SJR has many groups which meet regularly for fellowship and study:
After The Rain
ATR is our contemporary worship band, comprising 2 guitarists, percussion and vocals.
Badminton Club
A lively session on Wednesday eveings in Hall A, meeting at 7.30 p.m. The club is not “competitive” but meets for fun, fellowship and exercise. The group usually takes a break during the hot summer months.
Bible Study Group
Meets at 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoons each week in the Choir Vestry
Boys Brigade
We have a well attended and active Company. Boys can join the Company as “Anchor Boys” once they are of school age and are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities. The Company is divided into age groups to ensure that the activities are appropriate to each group. Activities include many sports such as footbal, kayaking, cross-country and volley ball.

Bowls Club
The Bowls club meets weekly on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 2.30 p.m., and Wednesday eveings at 7.30 p.m.
Choir
Our Choir meets regularly on Friday evenings at 7.30 p.m. to rehearse the hymns for the following Sunday, together with any anthem or other music for the service. We welcome anyone to join us, young or old, who enjoys singing or who would like to be part of an active devotional music group.
Coffee and Tea
Coffee and tea are served each week on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 10.00 a.m. to 12 noon in the Link area.
Evening Prayers
Meets each Tuesday at 6.45 to 7.00 p.m. in the church following the order in the Methodist Worship Book, readng passages from th Bible and praying for the world and the Church, internationally, nationally and locally. A time for quiet reflection in a busy week.
Focus Group
FOCUS is a small fellowship group. We meet regularly at the members’ homes on alternate Thursdays at 8.00 p.m. for a mixed program of study, meals, films and discussions. See the Focus Group page here
Junior Church
Children from the age of 3 years upwards are welcome to join one of the Junior Church groups which meet from 10.30 to 11.30 on Sunday mornings. Activities include games, drama, art and craft, dance and discussion, all based around a different bible passage each week.
Pause for Thought and Prayer
On Wednesdays, we meet from 10.30 to approximately 11.00 a.m. in the choir vestry, with coffee available before or after in the Link. An informal time of worship with recorded music, a Bible reading and reflection, followed by prayers for the world and especially for those connected to our Church community, for whom we have a particular concern.
SJR Supper Club
Share in a meal and fellowship on Tuesday evenings once a month. Click here to see dates.
Soup & Sweet Lunch
This is held monthly, usually on the third Monday of each month.
Switch
Switch meets on Monday evenings at 6.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. meetings take place at the church. Switch is a Club for Girls aged 8 - 18 years. Further information is available from Debbie Craggs or Gail Ratcliffe and on the SWITCH page.

Walking Group
Meets most months for walks on a Sunday afternoon. Normally approximately 4 miles with the occasional longer jaunt for the more hardy! See the Picture Gallery for a selection of photos.
Women’s Wednesday Group
The group meets in the Parlour on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 p.m. for a varied programme of social activities, discussion and invited speakers.
Youth Club
St James Road Youth Club opened it's doors for the first time on Saturday 17th April! If you are 9 +, got nothing to do on a Saturday night not even any Xfactor to watch... You should come to St James Road Youth Club, starting 6:30 - 8:30 Saturday nights. For computer games, music, football, volley ball, cricket and basketball. Or just hanging out with your friends. Looking forward to seeing you all."
