The object of the BB is the advancement of Christ’s kingdom amongst boys, and the promotion of habits of Obedience, Reverence, Discipline, Self-Respect and all that tends towards a true Christian manliness.
The BB was founded in Glasgow by William Smith in 1883
The 4th Southampton was founded at Howard Road Methodist Church by Eddie Burrow in 1915.
What we offer
An opportunity:
  • to be a member of the oldest Christian uniformed youth organisation for boys. 
  • to wear a simple but smart uniform for most of our Friday meetings (and parades). 
  • to have the opportunity to gain credits and badges which may ultimately lead to the President’s and Queen’s Award.
  • To take on leadership responsibilities as an NCO
  • to participate in a wide variety of sports and leisure activities, some on the Friday evening and others on different days of the week. 
  • to participate in trips and holidays.
 
What we expect from you
  • good behaviour 
  • regular attendance on Fridays
  • smart uniform 
  • participation in the full range of  activities 
  • attendance at Church Parades when held
How parents can help
  • by encouraging good attendance
  • by supporting major events
  • by keeping a diary of forthcoming events
  • by advising staff when boy is going to be absent
Age Groups
Anchors - age 5 to school year 2 Juniors - schools years 3 to 5 Inters - school years 6 to 8 Seniors - school years 9 plus
Times
Friday is our main night for meeting:
Anchors - 5.00 to 6.15 p.m.
Juniors - 6.30 to 8.15 p.m. Inters - 7.00 to 9.00 p.m. Seniors - 7.00 to 9.45 p.m. 
What does it cost?
Anchors: 50p per week OR 
£7 per term OR
£18 per year*
Juniors    £12 per term OR
£30 per year*
Inters &  £15 per term OR
Seniors   £40 per year*
* if paid by September 30th
